Fiber Forum is inviting a limited number of EGA members to attend a lecture with Lisa Kokin on March 25, 2025 at 7:30pm Eastern time.

To register, please email Fiber Forum Education Chair, Jenna McClooney at jennalee@hotmail.com to let me know you wish to attend. If I don’t respond with a confirmation within 24 hours, please re-send your request. The Zoom link will be sent out with your confirmation.

In addition to how she gets her ideas/inspirations, processes and choice of materials, Lisa will talk about the role and importance of sewing/stitching in her work for the past several decades and how this relates to her work as a professional artist. For a preview of her work, please visit her website at: Lisa Kokin | Artist, Art Instructor & Art Coach | Art Mentor

Lisa Kokin lives and works in El Sobrante, California with her spouse, the photographer Lia Roozendaal, Austin and Ollie, her canine studio assistants, and Bindi the cat. The daughter of upholsterers, she stitches everything she can get her hands on. Kokin brings a iber sensibility and a conceptual approach to a diverse array of materials, including fabrics, paper, metal, and shredded money. Her work is often a commentary on the world around her, often incorporating the age-old Jewish response to adversity, humor, and an empathy with the underdog, which she attributes to growing up in a secular, liberal Jewish family in which issues of social justice were often discussed.
