Signups Now Open for an Extended Study Program with Carolyn Standing Webb

Join us for Carolyn Standing Webb’s Blackwork program, “Queen Catherine’s Book Cover, Bag, and Pyn Pillow.

Our nationally known teacher will lead us in working on three related blackwork projects that echo those found in early 16th Century English embroidered items. She will also tell us about Catherine Parr, the last wife of King Henry VIII, who was not only passionate, but also intelligent enough to survive him.

There will be enough time to perfect your double-running stitch and learn when blackwork can and cannot be reversible. We will explore several shading techniques that include different sizes of threads and how to add metal threads to your patterns. You will learn how to stitch more than two dozen blackwork patterns and how to vary them. We will work with various metal threads including gold wire, pearl purl, lizerine, and bright check.

We will be at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown in Salt Lake City on April 19-23, 2023. The adventure includes a day touring some of the local sights.
