Join the Royal School of Needlework for a summer of fun to celebrate their 150th anniversary! This July and August their hugely popular International Summer School returns and, for the very first time, is being offered both online and onsite.
Stitch lovers from around the world will share their passion for hand embroidery, enjoying the RSN’s world-renowned tuition, exploring a variety of techniques and designs, from Crewelwork to Box Making, and Canvaswork to Whitework, suitable for those new to stitch as well as the more experienced stitcher to develop their skills.
The in person Summer School, at Hampton Court Palace, south west London, offers a choice of eight different five-day classes, often based on pieces in the RSN’s unique archive and collection. Attendees will enjoy the tie in with the celebratory exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum, central London, ‘150 Years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk’ (open until 4 September) as well as the exhibition in the RSN Embroidery Studio, ‘A Girl’s Education in Stitch’.
If going to London is not an option, the RSN is offering a series of two, three and five-Day Online Classes in July, for the Americas, Australia/New Zealand/Asia and UK/Europe time zones, and different ‘stitch’ body clocks. These classes cover Goldwork, Blackwork, Beadwork and Silk Shading and are perfect for those who cannot commit to a full week.
Throughout the summer, there will be dedicated Online Talks with Guest Speakers and special events, open to all students, together with a goodie bag.
In 2022, there is no better place to experience world-class tuition with like-minded students from the world over! Whether you’re planning on attending in person, online or a combination of the two, discover more about this fabulous event here.
