About Fiber Forum

Fiber Forum was organized in 1992 for EGA members interested in creating original embroideries for exhibit in contemporary or traditional techniques. Original designs, personal expression and excellence of work are promoted through annual jurying, online lectures, retreats and workshops led by professional fiber artists. Members are encouraged to enter local and national art shows to expose others to the art of embroidery. Fiber Forum exhibits annually at the National Seminar in the Education Exhibit.

Fiber Forum Membership

New members are juried in each year by academic and professional artists who are active in their field. Jurying is based on both aesthetic achievement and technical skill of the work submitted. Members are juried through digital photos of original pieces that have not been taught or proposed for a class prior to the time the annual jurying process is completed. To remain a member of Fiber Forum requires re-jurying at least every three years with digital photo submissions of a member’s new work. This procedure encourages each person to set a creative challenge and attain personal goals.

Upon acceptance, the membership fee is $25.00 annually, and it can be paid online here.

Members can join for 1, 2 or 3 years: 1 year for $25; 2 years for $45; 3 years for $60. You may pay for 1 to 3 years, but not for more than the period of your current juried membership term. Fiber Forum dues are to be paid by May 31, with the same deadline as EGA membership dues.

About Jurying

Jurying occurs in March of each year. Entries for 2024 must be received between March 1 and March 15, 2024. For your reference, Click here to download the 2024 Fiber Forum Jurying Procedures. Fiber Forum Friends

Fiber Forum Friends is open to any interested EGA member for a donation of $10, due on May 31 of each year. Friends receive the quarterly e-newsletter that publishes Fiber Forum news and activities and can attend all FF meetings and lectures, most of which are online. Educational programs for Friends are offered yearly to inspire confidence to create original work and to learn the ins and outs of the annual Jurying. Friends may enroll for retreat and workshop spaces not filled by FF members.

Fiber Forum Retreat 2025

Fiber Forum will open registration for their 2025 retreat to EGA members Saturday September 1. Registrations are accepted no earlier than 9:00am Central time. At this time the class is full but historically, a number of people are cleared from the waiting list each year, so if seats are taken when you register, it is important to get your name on the waiting list as there is a possibility of getting cleared.
