2102 Whitework Spot Sampler
Taught by Terri Bay (view bio)My journey into Ukrainian Whitework began in an unconventional manner. My Aunt, Sue Sandi was a member of EGA and enrolled in Jan Walters’ Ukrainian Whitework correspondence course. She was very enthused about the course and told me a lot about it – frequently. Sadly, she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer shortly after beginning the course and passed away when her table runner was only half finished. As I am the only other needleworker in the family who does more than basic cross stitch, she willed me her stash along with UFOs. Her guild sent the partially completed runner in for evaluation and the reply was glowing. The words superior and excellent were used often. I read it and was terrified to finish the runner. I put it away for nearly a decade. In the meantime I progressed in other techniques to the point where I felt I might be able to do it justice. I pulled it out, finished it and was hooked! I searched for more books and patterns, but couldn’t find much. Eventually I began putting bits of patterns together, them branching out more and more on my own. This lead to starting my design company and selling my designs through Whichelt Imports, Hoffman, and my web site. My designs are mostly Whitework (Ukrainian being my favorite), Hardanger, and Blackwork with lots of various Pulled and Drawn techniques thrown in for the fun of it. My newest passion is adding elements of Reticello and Punto Antico to my Hardanger designs. A little fusion for the fun of it.
Terri Bay, a teacher and designer from South Carolina, began teaching Ukrainian Whitework at Nordic Needle’s retreat. One class lead to another and now she has taught Ukrainian Whitework, Hardanger, Pulled and Drawn Thread and Blackwork at the EGA National Seminars, ANG Seminars, NAN, Regional Seminars, chapter workshops, and various retreats and other fun events. She was honored to be featured as the Designer Across America in the June 2018 issue of Needle Arts Magazine and will have a design in Needle Pointers in the fall of 2021. Terri is a member of EGA, EAC, ANG, and NETA. www.terribayneedleworkdesigns.com

2103 Sea Horse Purse
Taught by Holly Bean (view bio)I come from an artistic family. My mother was an accomplished basket weaver and needle point artist. Her animal needle point designs were my inspiration in creating animals with seed beads. I began my beading journey 30 years ago; bead weaving fringe earrings for a local store. I put beading away for a time while I raised my two sons and developed my 20 year career with the YMCA. In 2014, I discovered bead embroidery; my passion for design ignited. I have since taught myself different techniques and also learned from some skilled masters. I’ve been teaching bead embroidery since 2016 at my local bead store, and across the country at bead societies, retreats, shops and on Zoom. I never want to stop learning and creating; I feel so fortunate to be able to create and inspire from my home studio in Virginia.

1202 Three Wishes

1203 Capri Necklace

October 12, 2026 | 8:30 am to 4:30 pmOrlando, FLTorque bangles are believed to have been worn around the 8th century BC. The word “torque” basically means twisted or turned. These bangles were found in bronze, silver, and gold. This style of jewelry has stood the test of time as it is still one of the most popular designs today. Coming To the End Cuff & Earrings is no exception. The base is a brass cuff blank sized to the wearer. The blank is covered in peyote stitch and edged with crystal pearls. An extension is built off of the cuff blank to hold two large oval CZs. These CZs are bezeled and attached to an extension in an ingenious way. Simple embellishments add just the right touch using Austrian crystals for sparkle. As if the bangle wasn’t enough, I had to add earrings, of course!

2202 Curiosity

2203 Gator! Bracelet
