The latest addition to our Slideshows & Presentations page is a presentation called Moose Hair and Bead Embroidery.

Here’s a little more about the presentation from its original description: Personal adornment has existed as long as humans have been on earth. Whether it was painting the human body or decorating clothing with mineral paints, feathers, quills, shell, bone, fur, vegetal matter, or using manufactured goods of fabric, thread, glass beads, all were representational to the artist creating this design.

The decision of the artist regarding the imagery used may be related to spiritual understanding of their particular world, or it may represent the importance of specific botany used in everyday life.

These slides contain a small sampling of examples of beadwork, but they are a basis for examining the skills necessary to create beautiful patterns with implements more challenging to use than what we have available in the 21st century.

Each slideshow also includes a link to download a PDF with slide descriptions which will help chapters wanting to share the presentation as a chapter activity. Additional formats for chapter presentation are available upon request, contact us and we’ll assist you with that.

Enjoy a small selection of the slides below and visit the slideshow here to see the entire presentation.
