Royal School of Needlework | Online International Summer School 2021 | Sunday July 11 to Friday July 23
Join the international stitch party!
Whether you’re inspired to pick up a needle and thread by seeing embroidery on Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ or reading about George Clooney sewing his children’s clothes, there is no doubt that stitch is enjoying an increased popularity! People are discovering and re-discovering ways to pass the time whilst they are stuck indoors.
As a result, the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) has launched its first Live Online International Summer School. Taking place from Sunday July 11 to Friday July 23, stitch lovers from around the world can now come together to share their passion and enjoy the RSN’s world-renowned tuition, wherever they live.
Dr Susan Kay-Williams, the RSN’s Chief Executive, explains the thinking behind the new venture: “By July, we will all be ready to do something different, even if it is from home. Teaching Live Online Classes has been the biggest development of the year for us and now we want to create the feeling of a stitch party online. Attendees will be treated to a welcome reception, expert tuition, a goodie bag and Exclusive Talks with special guests over the two weeks. And the best part is that we will deliver all of this at times to suit different time zones and ‘stitch’ body clocks!”
The RSN Summer School will take place over a two week period at the following times (UK British Summer Time):
For Australia, New Zealand and East Asia (or early birds!): 7am – 10.30am, Sunday July 11 – Saturday July 17
For North America (or night owls!): 3pm – 9pm, Monday July 12 – Saturday July 17
For UK and Europe: 10am – 4pm, Monday July 19 – Friday July 23
There is a stunning range of different class designs to choose, from a Tudor Rose and Goldwork border inspired by historic clothing to creatures of beauty including a magnificent mythical dragon and tropical flamingo. The full list of classes for each time zone can be viewed on the RSN’s website. To find out more and to book a place on your home from home holiday, visit royal-needlework.org.uk
