Constellation Chapter launches new program Summer Stitchin Camp

Our Constellation Chapter in Maryland launched a new and exciting program this summer. The new program is a camp for school age children called Summer Stitchin’ and it’s one of many offered by the local Arts Council. Boys and girls from grades 3 to 7 learned how to do simple cross stitch and peyote beading. We had 24 participants and 4 guild members were part of the camp as well.

We taught a simple Anna Davidson heart cross stitch design that fit into a card when it was completed and a small simple sampler of Anna’s as well. The peyote beading was done with pony beads and yarn to make coasters. A few of the kids took the next step and made the same design with delica beads.

Many of the kids were invited to attend our monthly Saturday meetings. All of the parents were told about our chapter, which recently celebrated its 45th anniversary! Parents were also invited to attend our meetings and like us on Facebook.
