The Cliff Walk Carry Strap Online Class sponsored by the Metropolitan Region

The Metropolitan Region’s next educational online class is with Pat Olski who has designed The Cliff Walk Carry Strap. Registration is now open and will close June 30, 2021. The cost for this class is $40 which includes the teaching fee and instructions.

All three lessons will be provided via email on Monday, September 13, 2021. Pat will be available for questions thru November 30.

Pat and her family often journey to wander the fabled scenic Cliff Walk, which meanders along the eastern shore of Newport, RI. There is something breath taking about the juxtaposition of the magnificent architecture of Gilded Age mansions set against a turbulent shoreline, accessible by a rocky path that is punctuated with seasonal flowers.

The simplicity of crisp modified Smyrna cross stitches represents the gorgeous stone and fretwork that abounds, and the summer nosegay at the bottom is evocative of the glorious thistle, wild roses, and straw flowers that grace the shoreline. The counted work portion of this strap is relaxing and pleasurable to stitch, and the bouquet at the bottom is comprised of a few simple embroidery stitches, that will pique your interest, and advance your repertoire. Because there is no kit, this is an excellent stash buster, and a wonderful way to make something both lovely and useful.

A handbag strap is a modern must have, but the classic design, and pure linen fabric and cotton threads materials make this accessory a timeless treasure.
