Cheekwood Chapter Exhibit
In conjunction with National Embroidery Month, Trish Binkley from the Cheekwood Chapter set up an exhibit at the Maury County Library, Columbia TN. This exhibit was presented in memory of long time member Mary Margaret Lovell, who died in 2020. You can read more about Mary Margaret Lovell and her art here.
The Cheekwood Chapter also participated in Stitch-in-Public Day this past February 3rd at the Maury County Library, Columbia, TN and then a second event at the Hermitage branch of the Nashville Public Library.
Threaded Needle Chapter
For the second year in a row, the Threaded Needle Chapter hosted the annual Stitch-In-Public day at the Vista Branch of the San Diego County Library. The Vista Library graciously and efficiently provided a venue for this event with plenty of tables, chairs and hospitality. We offered different pieces for our guests to choose from and helped them either embroider a mini-hooped necklace, using a running darn stitch to make a bookmark or needlepoint a canvas pattern. Most finished their projects, which they took home with them. Many participants had never stitched before. Our goal, which I believe we achieved, was to introduce individuals to the needle arts and spark a new artistic passion they can enjoy. We hosted from 10 am until 2 pm with almost all of our participants staying the entire time. We had 23 guests ranging from age 6 to 60+, a few requesting when we will be back again. The Threaded Needle Chapter volunteers had a great time at this event and our plan is to do it again next year!
