A stunningly embroidered homage to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons

In her work “Homage to Vivaldi” artist Jackie Gibson, an EGA Member from the Great Lakes Region brings the beauty of the four seasons to life.
The techniques used in these beautiful pieces are Needlepoint on painted canvas, surface embroidery, needle felting, appliqué, enameling.

You can see Jackie’s “Homage to Vivaldi” in our 21st National Exhibit Through the Needle’s Eye. The exhibit will be in Arizona from April 3 through May 12, 2018, and in Minnesota from January 7 through April 1, 2019.

Here’s what Jackie said about her work: “‘Homage to Vivaldi’ is a meditation on time. Each movement of his “Four Seasons” is exquisitely beautiful as is, we are reminded, the cycle of life itself. Thirty years ago when I first heard Itzhak Perlman in concert he played Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with enormous passion and energy. Recently I have only known him to play the Vivaldi–with enormous grace, but not the same energy. This embroidery reminds me of the need for such grace.”
