Sarah, really good class. Have been wanting to learn how to make fabric covered boxes, so your class came at a great time.
My solution in working with a curved needle was to use a finger cot, like one would use to apply ointment. Gave me the grip I needed. Available in pharmacies in the USA.
Also found that my small box for supplies was…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
a great kit and very clear videos Sarah, thank you. I am an Australian currently living in Mexico so I especially appreciated all the supplies, as they are not easy to get here. I have completed the inner box, measurements are correct. I found the circular needle a bit tricky initially as I have not used one previously. Looking f…[Read more] -

Yeah! I have finished Lesson 1. I did have problems with the needle tip dipping into the double-sided tape. I added a finger cot to my index finger and had much greater control of the curved needle.

I did use a slightly wider tape in the videos than in the kits, but I have previously used the thin tape with the same results, so unless you are having trouble getting the fabric to stick to the tape you shouldn’t need the extra width.
I do however find you need to press with a little force to get the fabric to stick to the tape – I usually…[Read more]

Nancy, I was able to use the narrow strips. The first two that went on the box boxes I did not angle. I stuck those pieces of fabric down and then I was able to attach the second set of strips. You don’t necessarily have to angle the tape, it will work okay if you don’t, you just might have a little bit of stickiness showing but it will eventually…[Read more]

I’m struggling with the double sided tape, also. My roll of tape is only about 8 mm wide. The one in the video seems much wider than that. I have been adding extra strips. It’s hard to decide how to angle the ends on the fabric covering and add extra strips.

Hi Mary,
What is it about the tape that you are struggling with?

It looks great, Dawn. I got mine done yesterday, it was a bit fiddly but I finally got the hang of the curved needle!
