When starting the very first row of windowpanes at the top, how far from the edge of the canvas should we start stitching? How much space should we allow for the borders?

I received my kit today and, in looking through it and checking items against the list, I found I am missing one ribbon. It is described as “blue lavender”. Merrilyn, how do I arrange to get one sent to me ? Thanks very much

Hi Trudy, I think in order for your teacher to see your comment, you need to click on the Group called “Class: Glass House Fuchsias” and post your message there. On my laptop, the Groups are listed on the left hand side of the screen (from the Profile section). If someone has responded to your inquiry already, please ignore me. Just trying to help..

I’m really glad everyone got to meet Wendy, Susan and Sandra at the March meeting. Sometimes, ARDs visit a whole year before they take office but not this time! Wendy will become official first, on 4/4. Normally, I’d be saying “let’s bid Linda B a fond farewell” but as Seminar Chairman for Chicago 2021, she’s definitely not going anywhere.…[Read more]

I went through all items in my full kit. I have lots of wonderful ribbons and threads. I have 2 cards of Lame Silk Green 7490. Supply list on class web link states 3 cards for 7490. I also have 2 cards of Lame Silk Green 7470. Supply list shows 2 cards needed.

Does anyone know of websites for selling older embroidery patterns? I’m looking for Those Darn Birds by An Elne of Lynnyn. It evidently used to be available through The Sampler Guild UK, but both it and An Elne of Lynnyn are now defunct. I’ve tried eBay and Etsy, so far without luck.
-
I’ve noticed Facebook groups that are “fans of whatever” which is where I start to look when the thing I’m interested in is defunct or out of print. Might be a long shot but you could get lucky!
-
Thanks for the Facebook suggestion, Marnie. I found The Sampler Guild’s page and posted my query. Fingers crossed!
-
-
I agree with Marnie that Facebook groups could help. There is one called Cross Stitch Hunting. If it is a sampler, you might be interested in Sampler World and Samplers Through Time. Good luck!
-
Thanks, Cyn. I’ll have a look.

How do I request friends?
-
Hi Susan, you can visit the member directory, https://egausa.org/members, also available on the sidebar on the left side of your profile. You will see a full list of members and can click add friend to the left of the person you would like to add.
-
Thanks so much. I search yesterday and couldn’t see the members directory.
You’re wonderful.

Kissing Pillows- who is collecting the Kissing Pillows now?
-
Violet, are you stitching them in conjuction with a chapter? I’m wondering if you are doing it independently or as a group outreach project. I can try to help you if you see this message and respond.
-
I’m asking because I was told that they are no longer being collected by anyone. Are you passing them out to military being deployed or know of a group doing that?
-
I am not personally involved with the Kissing Pillows now but I have enjoyed stitching many of them in the past. I’m going to direct you to two sources for more information: The National Outreach chairman is Beate Lies. You can reach Beate via email at beainsc@gmail.com. She can point you in the right direction. Secondly, the Yellow Rose…[Read more]

My chapter wanted to donate the pillows last fall and were finally directed to Geraldine Trappey (gtrappey@comcast.net), the originator of the program. At that time, she was not sure she could continue for a number of reasons, but I am not sure what the current status is. You might try contacting her to find out if they are still collecting the…[Read more]

We are no longer collecting them in GPR. There has been significant difficulty in getting them delivered on bases because of the new security concerns. I spoke with a member of Evergreen chapter yesterday and she mentioned that the program is winding down. I think further information would be available thru SCR as the program started in Houston…[Read more]

Here is my “More Than a Rose” GCC piece that I recently finished. It is a very difficult piece that more than one person in my group, modified how they finished it, because they gave up on figuring out some of the stitches. I’m the only one that fully got through it. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough.
-
Well, I’m inspired, Nancy. I have finished just the black outline so I have most of it left to do. Your plaited braid looks really nice and I’m hoping to learn the stitch!
-
Don’t know where Nancy came from – my name is Suzanne or Suzi. But that’s ok. Good luck, if you’re doing this piece. I’m left-handed and doing the plaited braid was a challenge. I used directions from at least 3 different books to figure it out.
-
beautiful.
-
Suzanne, your finish is stunning! I’m just starting this piece and am intimidated but up for the challenge. I’m left-handed as well and am a bit nervous about what you said about having to source instructions from many sources. What book ultimately worked best for you?

Hi Trudy, this was posted to your profile instead of the class group. I would recommend going to the class group and asking your question there. : https://egausa.org/groups/glass-house-fuchsias/
Duh! I guess that’s why there wasn’t a prompt response.
