We are pleased to announce a new addition to our Special Interest Groups: Traditional Japanese Embroidery, hosted by Christene Thurston.
This Special Interest Group (SIG) is dedicated to fostering a shared appreciation for the beauty and tradition of Japanese embroidery. Meetings will provide an opportunity for members to share stories of their personal journeys, sources of inspiration, and topics centered on this centuries-old embroidery technique. There will be no teaching or stitching demonstrations; instead, the focus will be on conversation, exploration, and community.
The group is open to all members and non-members of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America who have an interest in Traditional Japanese Embroidery. No prior experience is required—enthusiasm and an appreciation for the art form are all that is needed.
Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned practitioner, or simply an admirer of this elegant embroidery tradition, this SIG offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and deepen your appreciation of Japanese embroidery.
Meeting days and time are to be determined. For more information about joining this group, please contact: Japanese@egausa.org.
