EGA’s Fort Worth Chapter Teaches New Stitchers at the State Fair of Texas

Recently, the VP of Programs (Debra Bessent) and the VP of Education (Dianne Stauber) of the Fort Worth chapter enabled a new generation of stitchers when we volunteered to demonstrate needlework in the Creative Arts building at the State Fair of Texas.

While we were asked to just sit and demonstrate stitching, we set the bar higher. I designed a simple cross stitch pattern of a corny dog…which is a fan favorite at our state fair. Debra made up 30 kits that included needle, floss, pattern, fabric, and business cards for our chapter and the local needlework shop that is a loyal supporter of our chapter. We thought 30 kits was optimistic, but we were out of kits in the first hour…and people loved learning to stitch!

The State Fair team was also overjoyed that we gave kits to fair goers, taught them a new skill, and made their day at the fair even more special. – Dianne Stauber
