Instructions
Start by transferring the pattern to the fabric using your preferred method. My favorite method is to trace the design onto the fabric using a heat erasable pen.
Attach the twig to the fabric with a couching stitch at each end using 2 strands of DMC 3862 (light brown) If you would prefer to stitch the twig instead, you can trace the outline and then fill it with Long and Short Stitch.
Stitch the shape of candy canes first in Backstitch using 6 strands of DMC 304 (red) Then whip through 4 strands of DMC Blanc (white), turning this into Whipped Backstitch. This will create the festive candy cane effect, which is perfect for the holidays!
Connect the candy canes to the branch with a Straight Stitch using 3 strands of DMC Blanc (white).
Add two more lines of Whipped Backstitch hanging from the branch, backstitching 6 strands of DMC Blanc (white), and whipping through 4 strands of DMC 304 (red).
Now it’s time to attach the bells with a stitch to hold them in place, I used 2 strands of DMC Blanc (white).
Now let’s add some sparkle! Stitch the stars in Straight Stitch using 3 strands of DMC 743 (yellow).
Now your hoop is ready to be backed! My favorite way to do this is to work running stitch around the edge of the hoop, then pull the thread to gather the fabric at the back. You can find my easy tutorial on how to do this here.
