Tracy, I just looked at your work again and read that you are going to do another one in purples.  It reminded me that I have a small box of  hand dyed variegated pearl cottons.  An “Ah ha” moment.  I will try those on a second hoop’s worth of stitching and try the Palastrina stitch until I get it right!!  I can also see making one of these to t…[Read more]

Well, the photo showed up but not the text.  This is what I have so far, I will be adding beads to some of the stitches to jazz them up a bit.  The ground fabric is a cotton/linen blend that is a bit stiffer than regular cotton but not as stiff as duck.  I had this around and thought I would try it.  As you can see my stitching is improving wit…[Read more]

Tracy, I am a quilter myself and should have recognized the grunge fabric.  I also used some fabric I had on hand.  It is is a cotton/linen blend.  It is heavier than grunge but still easy to stitch through.  I love the look of linen.  I will post my progress in a separate place.  I have done all of one strip and half of a second.  My colors…[Read more]

It was exciting to get started. My goal was to learn new stitches. I do not have a lot done but have tried two new ones.

I am on my way home to Ohio(driving) after visiting my sister who is receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer. Focusing on a new project is helping me remain somewhat calm even though I do not have much time to work on it…[Read more]

Tracy, awesome work! I love the idea of the variegated thread and then using the same colors elsewhere. It creates tranquility, especially when you have those soft colors.

Deborah…. My ground fabric is called grunge fabric which is cotton and a muslin behind it for stability. I am also a quilter and have so much fabric I decided to use things I already have.  Glad you like it. I’m going to do one in purples too.

It has been a very hectic few days for me! I have completed the muslin/duck bit, hopped it, and drawn the lines, but haven’t been able to start stitching. Hope to do that tonight or tomorrow. I too love your work, Tracy! I particularly like the forked/merged part (the top horizontal line). I look forward to having something to share soon.

Great job, Tracy! The outer outline is in the finishing steps so it can help to smooth out the stitching at the edges. Still ok to have done it earlier, though.

Wow, that looks great.  Now I can see the variegated thread clearly.  And I really like your beads.  I am going to work on mine right now and try to get one complete set finished.   What is your ground fabric?  It has a nice linen-y look to it.

Hi Everyone…. I had so much fun with lesson 1. Below is a picture of it finished.  I can’t wait to see what everyone is doing.  I don’t think I was supposed to do the final circle but since I was going to press it the line would have disappeared. I didn’t think I’d do a good enough job trying to redraw it. Plus I wanted to use the variegated…[Read more]

Thanks. When I first started doing embroidery I didn’t mark and had small and large stitches. Then one time I tried it and my stitches were so much better so now I do it – not all the time, but just when it matters. I’ve been using a friction pen and then ironing it off. I know if my project got really cold the stitches might come back, but…[Read more]

Tracy, that is beautiful.  I really like the variegated thread at the bottom.  It is variegated isn’t it?  Your stitches are very well matched in size and shape, do you always use marks?  I have found that keeps me looking better, otherwise I get very large or very small by the end of the line.  You have inspired me to get going past my one outl…[Read more]
