This controled approach shows that less can be enen more! Your ground materials are truly wonferful and inspirational. You know a blank piece of cloth can be very scary and totally uninspirational. Great work in your mody of works!! Thanks

This work is lovely and very well done. Take more naps if sleep is relaxing and inspirational. it works for me!
I would love to take another class like this. I only wish I would have been in the class for the three lessons but we were out of the country. It was great fun and very worth a repeat. I will try to not be so wild and crazy with my…[Read more] -

Marsha, I just looked at your piece in the Golden Needle awards,. Congratulations. It is a wonderful piece, very happy looking and lots to look at and look for.
I also recognize the crazy quilt block from the class I took with you. That finished up beautifully and you must be proud of one of your students doing so well. She did such a goo…[Read more]

Marsha, I am all for another one of these classes. I took one of your crazy quilting classes online a year or so ago and enjoyed it and would love to go further in this kind of design work. I especially like the smaller size so I can actually finish. No more UFO’s or WIP’s or any other alphabetical rendering of Not Finished and Hiding in a Dr…[Read more]

Rona – Your work made a huge difference- it looks great!
There is quilting background to this project- the stitches come straight from crazy quilting. My newest version of quilting is the header for the Golden Needle awards: https://egausa.org/gallery/golden-needle-awards-2022/
I love how quilting and embroidery go together.
I’m thinking of…[Read more]

Deborah, thanks for your good words and enthusiasm. And I will certainly share my progress with you. (I agree, you can incorporate your batiks into a wall quilt! I think it would be great!)
I doubt I will finish these before Dec 26. I would love to keep in touch (maybe even in a small group with others from this class) in an on-going way after…[Read more]

Rona, I really like what you have done with your piece. The yellow/orange variegated looks great and more interesting than the original. I like even better your idea of a 9 patch wall hanging with plain blocks alternating. If you get even as far as putting the blocks out together please send us a photo. They don’t have to be complete or sew…[Read more]

Rona Pietrzak replied to the topic This was such an enjoyable project! in the forum Forum: Freestyle Hoop Embroidery 3 years, 3 months ago
This is so striking, Susan! The pale yellows do such a nice job giving space so we can really enjoy the beautiful and strong reds and blues. And you filled so much space without making it look busy!
Thanks for sharing this with us. -

Thanks for all the support and the very helpful suggestions! I have done some work with that empty space to give that section more weight: got rid of that pink section none of you hated as much as I did; I was inspired by Anneli’s tan satin stitch band so I incorporated that idea to replace the pink. I wish I hadn’t used a varigated thread…[Read more]

Hi, Deborah,
I so admire your productivity — and your ability to let the fabric and one’s imagination to do some of the work! This piece is lovely and evocative. Thanks!

Well, I went through my batik fabric stash and found this one which had an area that looked like a mountain to me. So here is a mountain in spring with chain stitch variations depicting the glacier, the glacial boulder field, some fields of spring flowers and a couple of forests in spring colors.
I decided less is more in this one and didn’t d…[Read more]

Anneli, wow, I really like what you have done. I think the colors are great, lots of contrast and, to me, unusual combinations. I love the whole look. I had not thought I would like the design completely covered with stitches but yours makes me rethink that. Back to the hoop once again to try doing all those fill stitches among some curves and…[Read more]

I am late to this thread but I too like what you had done as of the 6th. I agree that there is a kind of empty space on the right but I imagine you have put something there since you posted last. I will keep checking back to see what you have done. You are on the right path, your stitches are very good and I like the colors you are using.

Tracy Reeb replied to the topic Question about hoop size and length of project posting in the forum Forum: Freestyle Hoop Embroidery 3 years, 3 months ago
Thanks for the info on how long. You can ignore my question about it.
I did draw my original circle and then put it in a bigger hoop do I could get to the edge. I found it easier to stitch and bead.
thanks.
