I am struggling with the curved needle! Have tried to hold it in the middle – my hands are so dry that I can’t get a grip on it. Any suggestions?

Thank you, Sarah. A very good reminder about the trailing. I’ll use the water soluble pen.

Hi Diane,
You can use a micron pen for tracing on, but I would test the pen on the fabric first in case it bleeds (it usually doesn’t but you can’t be too careful!).
You’ll just need to be extra careful to cover all of the line with your stitching as it will show up strikingly between the pale green fabric and the white thread. As you won’t…[Read more]

Yes, Sarah, thank you. This is helpful.
A mock-up is a good idea. Using a similar thickness corrugated cardboard is a valuable tip. After watching your video 1.4 on constructing the inner box I now understand how important it is to plan how the seams will join.
Thank you, again.

Hi Sarah,
Thrilled to be taking another of your classes so soon after the last.
Would a Micron Pen .1 also work for tracing the letter on to the fabric? I’ve used water soluble pens with mixed results.

Hi Florence,
The easy question first: A5 is a paper size of 14.8cm x 21 cm. It’s half the size of A4 which is similar in size to US Letter paper.
For the more complicated question about sizing:
I do talk about this a little in lesson 2 as you may need to make adjustments to the size of the outer box depending on the measurements of the in…[Read more]

Hi, again, Sarah,
Yes, I really love your videos. They are very, very helpful.
It would be wonderful to be able to replay them after our class is over to refer to for future box projects. Thank you very much for offering to host them on your own You Tube channel.
I am currently stitching embroidery for the outside of several boxes and find the…[Read more]

Hi Dawn, I am really looking forward to this project and appreciate all the work that goes into it. As I was trying to justify my basting areas, I think I discovered that the actual graphing of area 6 that is represented in print as 26x 26, is actually drawn in as 24 x 26. My thought is that you want it 26 x 26. So, one solution could be to ex…[Read more]

Thanks! 🙂 The area is actually 25 x 26. But, it doesn’t have to be perfect. As long as the upper right side is correct, the graph in Lesson 2 will get you where you need to be, which has you starting in the upper right area. So, don’t rip it out, work with it.
I hope this helps, if not please let me know.
Thanks
Dawn

I have done my best on estimating the basting, but would also appreciate confirmation about spacing between the areas, please.

I am about 1/2 way through basting == the worst part for me — get me to the stitches!!!! LOL
But I do need to verify this……
Between most of the boxes there are 12 threads. (I think)
Between Area 13 and Area 14 there are less — it LOOKS closer but it is hard to see exactly maybe 5?
Between Area 8 and Area 7 they look closer — I think i…[Read more]

Dawn R Donnelly replied to the topic Area 14 in the forum Forum: B Sampler 3 years, 2 months ago
Hi, thanks. It is 14 x 14 and the area is 2 linen threads in from the left.
If you have already basted the lines, I wouldn’t pull it out. Just work in from the left area.
Thanks

Terry, not sure I understand your comment 2 threads in from the border. On page 5 of the handout it states to start 2 inches from the bottom and 2 inches from the left. I started at the bottom and measured 2 inches up from the bottom of the linen and then 2 inches in from the left side of the linen to mark my starting point from Area 9.
