Hi everyone, Area 6 is actually 24 threads wide and 26 threads high. As long as you have the top right corner basted, you’ll just follow the graph from there. If you have already based, please don’t pull it out. Especially since we will be taking out the basting threads later or as you go.
Thanks
Dawn

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in responding. I was traveling on Friday and just noticed the email questions in my junk mail. 🙁
The basting: It’s there to help you find each area easily while you are stitching and to show. Then you just have to go to that area and put in the stitch. The guidelines get to the start and stop. Remember, most of…[Read more]

Hi Dawn,
Curved needles do take a bit of getting used to – I ended up stabbing myself in the back of the hand the first few times I used one. I hold my curved needle in three fingers rather than two – so the normal ‘pencil grip’ between your finger and thumb and then your second (or third) finger holding in behind the first, which helps con…[Read more]

I am wondering of the design on the graph grid was a different color than black it would be easier to read. There are a few places where the design line falls on the darker grid lines which make it hard to decide if it is a design line or a grid line.
Do students need to be given the suggestion of finishing the edge of the linen before…[Read more]

I am struggling with the curved needle! Have tried to hold it in the middle – my hands are so dry that I can’t get a grip on it. Any suggestions?

Thank you, Sarah. A very good reminder about the trailing. I’ll use the water soluble pen.

Hi Diane,
You can use a micron pen for tracing on, but I would test the pen on the fabric first in case it bleeds (it usually doesn’t but you can’t be too careful!).
You’ll just need to be extra careful to cover all of the line with your stitching as it will show up strikingly between the pale green fabric and the white thread. As you won’t…[Read more]
