I just returned from Canada where I attended the EAC seminar at Victoria University in Victoria. Wonderful seminar, organized along the same lines that we use. I took two classes: one in native bead work and one in Punto Antico. Attending the general meeting I discovered that they have the same concerns that we have in EGA.

I’m all done except for the row of hem stitching. I’m not sure I have the Pebble Filling Stitch in the right place. I counted up 8 threads from the North position. That leaves me with 6 threads between the North position and the bottom of the pebble filling stitch. From what I can see from the photo the hem stitching should be in the six…[Read more]

EGA Discussion Group 6 years, 11 months agoFox Valley (Wisconsin) hosted Terry Bay’s Illusion Class. I completed my piece in just under two weeks. The technique is Ukrainian whitework. This piece was challenging, but Terry made it enjoyable and manageable. The piece was almost half done at the end of the two-day class.

Wendy, what a beautiful piece! And stitched so well! I’ve taken some classes from Terri but haven’t seen this one offered. I’ll have to watch for it. I’m a big fan of “white on white”!

Thank you for your very nice comments! I tried to make this class on-line as I would teach it in person. I love to talk sampler, their history and the history of stitches as I know it. (I’m always learning as well.) Hopefully, our paths will cross one day soon.

Hi, Elaine! Question on block 12. When you say a firm tension, do you mean tight enough to see a slight separation of threads, but not pulled enough to make a hole? With no separation of threads I can hardly see the stitches.

You are going to love the white on white gcc i finished my piece its photo is on the ega web page, gallery of members work. I really think i will do another one! The yo yo flowers are fun to make, plus they work up fast.
