Description
The one-day Pick of the Patch course will take place Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, led by noted designer Dawn Donnelly. The course will start at 11 a.m. Eastern time and, after a couple of brief breaks and an hour for lunch, will end at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
Pumpkins come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. This class can get you into the mood for fall, with a pop of welcome color as you stitch it over the winter months.
The kit for this class includes a 6″ x 9″ (15.24cm x 22.86cm) pumpkin painted on a 10″ x 12″ (25.4cm x 30.48cm) hand-painted canvas, as well as silk, pearl cotton, wool, and wool/silk blend threads. Students will bring the pumpkin to life using a variety of threads and couching techniques. The class will incorporate the following stitches and techniques:
Burden stitch
Diagonal couching variation
Herringbone couching
Squared filling variations
Trellis variations
Students are to supply 12″ x 10″ (30.48cm x 25.4cm) stretcher bars and tacks; usual stitching supplies; scissors for cutting wire; and dark brown sewing thread or embroidery floss.
