I hope you are thinking of a next project! i gave some alternative examples of this project above. Here are two more. They show the project worked in monotones. The brown one shows another way to form the bands of stitching.

Susan,
I must agree with our wonderful teacher. The colors are absolutely fantastic! Not too many colors, but scattered throughout the work creates an eloquent work of art.

Wow, Susan – that is striking! Great job, you have made good use of the space. The stitches and colors are pure eye candy! The color scheme makes me think of Southwestern art, turquoise jewelry and so on.

Deborah- Online classes are a pleasure to teach, I haven’t another in the works, but certainly am thinking about it. Many thanks for your kind words!

Anneli, that is not the best reason for learning embroidery but you certainly learned it well. I hope your husband is recovered, that is a long time to be in the hospital & rehab. I have taken a lot of classes through EGA and learned from each one. And from both the teacher and the other participants. I think the online classes are a huge…[Read more]

Tracy, I am glad you liked my suggestion. Chain stitch would be one of my choices but I think I am going to try buttonhole for my next one. It is one I have a more difficult time doing so it would be a good learning one for me. I am on vacation right now so I haven’t finished my circles yet but plan to after I get home. I have done most of the…[Read more]

I’m a little behind because I was on vacation. I love seeing everyone’s colors and stitches. I’m hoping to catch up this weekend and post some new pictures. While on vacation I decided to start another one and do what Deborah suggested and do one stitch in many variations. I decided to do the lines in chain stitch with all kinds of variations.…[Read more]

Hello from Oregon. I too am somewhat behind in progress on my sampler; however, I’m enjoying trying new stitches. I struggled to find the right type of Pearl Cotton, as the box stores only carried two colors in #8. I ended up starting with #5, which is much too heavy for the fabric, but I soldiered on! I’ve now found a source for many col…[Read more] -

The images show some finishing touches you can do with your project. You may choose to do all-over background embroidery, either as one stitch, or a variety of stitches. You may want to fill in areas with small motifs. Challenge yourself by trying something new!

Thank you all for your encouraging comments! I really appreciate it.
Yes, only two years of embroidery, but many hours a day. I started in the summer 2020. My husband had been severely injured in an accident and he came home to recover after two months in hospital and rehab therapy. Covid scare made us homebound. I needed a hobby that was quiet…[Read more]
