Sampling on a doodle cloth is a great thing and you do not have to take it out. I also write notes directly on the doodle cloth. Rona- Getting the fabric wet might shrink it. Anything with dye or scent in it should not be used. I have used a clean, white pencil eraser at times. Which works well enough. Frankly, I would just leave it be. Nothing shows up in the photo!

There are a lot of pencil marks on my hoop piece, and I wonder how I can get them out. Is it ok to use Dawn? or baby shampoo or baby bubble bath? Or is there another option?

I really like your piece. I think it was a good idea to stitch the background with one color and thinner thread, even the change in stitches gives it a character. This way the design pops out to shine in its own right.
