Hi all beaders and embroiderers!
If you missed our last meeting on Saturday, here’s a rundown of some cool links and possible ideas to keep you busy until our next meeting, which will be in August:
Thursday, August 14, at 6 pm CT
Saturday, August 23, at 2 pm CT
I’ll send out a NEW link to members for each one a day and an hour before it.
The most exciting news is that it is International Beading Week until August 3rd. There are a ton of cool bead weaving patterns on their website (from the Beadworkers Guild). It includes many that are free, including some new additions for this year. One of our members was working on ‘Bumble By’ by Catriona Starpins. And we oohed and aahed over the Ubuntu Rainbow Dish by Cath Thomas. Other things included earrings, pen wraps, cuffs, tassels, and so much more. It’s worth a look!

Show & Tell & fun discussion included a finished ornament designed by Renee Kovnesky, which can be seen on her Etsy store.
There was also discussion about a beaded name tag (possibly by Cynthia Handbright) and methods for finishing it. I couldn’t find a link to the project, though. Another member mentioned that there are how-to-finish videos on YouTube if you search.
One favorite YT beader is Vonna Pfeiffer

She also goes by The Twisted Stitcher
If you are into Peyote stitch, there is a Facebook group of the same name dedicated to it.
Deborah Roberti offers a variety of jewelry beadweaving patterns, including free ones, on her website.

We bemoaned the lack of local bead shops again.
We also dove into two-hole beads, which led to a mention of Virginia Jenson’s books.
Till we meet again! Happy Beading!
