For our December 2025 stitch-a-long on Facebook we are stitching a chicken scratch tree by Nancy Cope from our Pajarito Chapter in New Mexico.
Here’s more about this month’s project from Nancy:
Chicken scratch embroidery is a form of cross stitch worked on gingham fabric that creates an optical illusion of lace overlay. It is also called depression lace since it was popular in the 1930s.

Please post pictures in the EGA Stitch-A-Long Facebook group when you’re done! We can’t wait to see them.
