Opus Anglicanum

Learn the two stitches that make up Opus Anglicanum!

Opus Anglicanum, or “English Work,” is a form of needlework dating back to the European Medieval period. Using just two stitches, split stitch and underside couching, and always stitched in filament silks and metal threads, much of its artistic essence derives from the play of light off the threads and stitch textures. In this class, students will learn the two stitches that make up Opus Anglicanum using filament silk and non-tarnishing metallic threads to embroider their choice of a traditional Medieval face, a modern face, or both! Students will be able to select the hair and halo color of choice for the traditional face, as well as the hair and cowboy hat color of choice for the modern face.

Registration starts January 7. Sign up for a reminder below!
