Wow, that looks great. Now I can see the variegated thread clearly. And I really like your beads. I am going to work on mine right now and try to get one complete set finished. What is your ground fabric? It has a nice linen-y look to it.

Hi Everyone…. I had so much fun with lesson 1. Below is a picture of it finished. I can’t wait to see what everyone is doing. I don’t think I was supposed to do the final circle but since I was going to press it the line would have disappeared. I didn’t think I’d do a good enough job trying to redraw it. Plus I wanted to use the variegated…[Read more]

Thanks. When I first started doing embroidery I didn’t mark and had small and large stitches. Then one time I tried it and my stitches were so much better so now I do it – not all the time, but just when it matters. I’ve been using a friction pen and then ironing it off. I know if my project got really cold the stitches might come back, but…[Read more]

Tracy, that is beautiful. I really like the variegated thread at the bottom. It is variegated isn’t it? Your stitches are very well matched in size and shape, do you always use marks? I have found that keeps me looking better, otherwise I get very large or very small by the end of the line. You have inspired me to get going past my one outl…[Read more]

It’s going good. I have one more line to do and two more fillers. I do make things so I need to get rid of the lines when I’m done. That’s the black marks you are seeing. I also thought it would be fun to add some beads.

RSN Stitchbank

A stitch reference is a published book of embroidery stitches. If you do embroidery at least one of these should be part of your toolbox. There are many out there both old and new, a search on Amazon for “embroidery stitches” will bring up many. The EGA will also have this type of book in their lending library.

I am still studying the material and photos. I never knew that so many outline stitches exist, some of them quite nice-looking! I should be able to start stitching in the weekend.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Reference is made in Lesson One to a stitch reference that is “required for this course.” How would I go about finding this? I’m guessing that it is a document?</p>

Thanks for asking Marsha. Yes, I was working on the project. I got my first line drawn & stitched but that is all so far. I will upload a photo as soon as I get the decorative stitch done and the second line on.
Thanks for all the photos showing us in detail how to do each step. They were very helpful

Are you getting your project set up in the hoop and the first line drawn? The fact that things are quiet here means you must be working on it! Please let me know if you need anything. I will check back here later today, and then I will be out for the weekend.
Your teacher,
-Marsha

Yes! They are already listed in the instructions! Please use the one(s) of your choice. If you wish to identify a stitch by its looks, please refer to your stitch reference as called for in the Materials listing. If you prefer to Google, please choose one and look it up! Enjoy!
