Thanks, Anneli and JM for your support and helpful thoughts. I’ve already pulled out that pink stitching on the farthest left vertical band, and I incorporate both your suggestions. Stay tuned!

Rona – The colors read well in the photo. Wonderful medley of stitches- great job! The medallions do pull the focus to that one section. I would experiment with small circle motifs to see if their placement can draw the design together.

don’t be discouraged, you have great ideas in the works.
I like the left side of the narrow horizontal band, where you have the yellow and grey-blue stitching – why not adding that to the other sections of the band, too?

Michelle, for some reason I had not looked at this thread before. I think the violet half-circle with its complement color yellow make an awesome statement! I hope you have continued with that idea and I am looking forward to seeing your progress.

Thank you, Rona, for your valuable analysis, I truly appreciate it. The background stitch in the lower right is called Japanese Darning, which belongs to the running stitch family. It is easy to stitch, and it looks pretty.

Michelle, I think your work is beautiful. I don’t how to stay it any better! it looks carefully stitched and wonderfully detailed. As to your concern about the French knots: as a general matter, i think the imperfections of hand stitching are what make it special and beautiful.
