When starting the very first row of windowpanes at the top, how far from the edge of the canvas should we start stitching? How much space should we allow for the borders?

I figured out what I believe Merrilyn meant. The stitch full diagram under step 4 for window A (reverse scotch stitch) has the bottom and top scotch stitch over 1 canvas thread left off. The stitch goes over 2 threads, 4 threads, and 2 threads and then repeats.
