Our featured teachers will be available to teach in conjunction with Seminar 2025, held in Dallas, TX November 12-16

Here’s how you can participate:

Learn about the teachers by reading their biographies and exploring their portfolios. You will find 1-day and 2-day class descriptions and photos below.

  • Clara Warschauer from London, UK is presenting four classes using goldwork and stumpwork techniques. Clara will be taking teaching venues from November 1- November 10 and then from November 18- 25
  • Wendy Innes from Calgary, Canada is presenting six classes predominantly using stumpwork. Wendy will be taking teaching venues from October 18-November 10.

Time is limited and requests to participate in the program, must be received via email by March 15, 2025. We encourage you to talk to your chapter, select a teacher and submit a request form. It is necessary that either the chapter president or region director confirm that the request is approved and supported by the local board.

Consider financial responsibilities before submitting your request. Details involving teacher pay, travel expenses, visa costs, lodging, meals, etc. are found here.

Please understand that there will be a limited number of venues for each teacher. We expect to receive more requests than we will be able to confirm and, therefore, will use the lottery process to determine the actual venues.

  • Anise Stumpwork Design

    A stunning swallowtail butterfly poised for flight pauses momentarily to sample the delights of a brilliant pink coneflower. This design features several useful stumpwork techniques such as using wire, felt padding, soft string padding, working of a slip and thread painting techniques.

    Technique: Stumpwork

    Proficiency: Intermediate
    Kit Cost: $65 USD
    Design Area: 4.5 inches x 3.25 inches
    Kit Contents: Ivory silk main fabric, Quilter’s muslin, cotton for detached elements, felt, thread card with DMC fibers, wire, needle pack, bead pack, small bag of polyester stuffing.
    Student Provides: 20cm (8-inch) embroidery hoop, two 10cm (4-inch) embroidery hoops, white polyester thread, fine tweezers, fine embroidery scissors, mechanical pencil or Frixion pen, 30 cm (12-inches) square of lightweight cotton fabric-color does not matter; will be discarded upon completion of project.

  • Golden Bee Skep Goldwork Design

    This glistening bee skep is worked on ivory silk fabric with a honeycomb background using opulent goldwork techniques. Numerous worthwhile methods are covered, such as felt padding, bricking, and pearl purl application. Adorned with two whimsy bees with dimensional wings in flight. This is the first in a series focusing on our vital pollinators. The second features cheerful ladybugs and the third enchanting dragonflies.

  • Goldwork Robin Brooch

    This workshop introduces participants to creating an elegant Robin Brooch using a variety of goldwork embroidery techniques. The project focuses on foundational methods such as couching, sequin formation, and chipping, as well as other techniques essential to achieving a professional finish.

    Participants will learn the step-by-step process from pattern tracing to completing the brooch. The workshop is designed to be beginner-friendly, making it suitable for those new to goldwork embroidery. By the end of the class, students will have a finished brooch and the skills to incorporate goldwork techniques into future projects.

  • Green Frog Scissor Fob

    Straight from Inspirations Magazine, this class offers participants the opportunity to create a delightful Frog Scissors fob in an engaging and interactive goldwork embroidery one-day session. The workshop covers every step of the process, from tracing the pattern to mastering the essential techniques needed to complete the project.

    The class is beginner-friendly and suitable for those new to goldwork or stumpwork techniques. While some basic embroidery experience is recommended, no prior knowledge of goldwork is required. By the end of the session, participants will have a completed the scissors fob and developed the skills to explore similar projects independently.

  • Heartsease Stumpwork Design

    The enchanting Heartsease design highlights three playful flowers in full bloom. Worked in majestic shades of purple and dynamic yellows with their smiling faces and fluffy beards. Complete with a stem, bud, and foliage and an endearing snail gliding in the foreground carrying his real shell abode with him. Students will learn proper techniques for creating life-like detached elements, felt padding, wire wrapping, and a raised stem.

  • Ladybird: Goldwork & Stumpwork workshop

    This workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to the goldwork and stumpwork techniques used to create a Ladybird Scissors Fob. Participants will learn the entire process, from tracing the pattern to completing the final stitches, and will finish the project as either a scissors fob or a hanging ornament.

    The workshop is beginner-friendly and ideal for those looking to explore goldwork and stumpwork. The techniques taught will allow participants to confidently create their own ladybird designs, with guidance on personalizing the project—such as creating heart-shaped spots or using unique colors.

    For those interested in making additional versions of this project, optional goldwork supply bundles are available. These include materials like antennas, beads for the eyes, and felt to inspire further creativity.

  • Li’l Ladies Stumpwork and Goldwork Design

    These cheerful little ladies are worked on a background of ivory silk using goldwork techniques in bright vibrant colors instead of traditional golds. The added aspect of stumpwork adds to the charm of the piece offering a touch more interest. Worthwhile goldwork techniques such as felt padding, bricking, and various forms of metal thread attachment, along with unique stumpwork features are incorporated in this piece. This is the second design in a set of 3 featuring whimsy pollinators using goldwork techniques for all levels of skill. The first features bees and the third dragonflies.

  • Monarch Stumpwork Design

    The majestic Monarch butterfly with its wings outstretched in delicate detail, hovering above a vibrant thistle in full bloom. Worked in many fundamental stumpwork components for students to learn new skills or to hone previous ones. Turkey work, raised stem stitch, satin stitch, trellis stitch, felt padding, wired elements, to name a few techniques, are all used in this piece worked on a background of ivory silk in DMC threads.

  • Sad Hedgehog Goldwork Ornament

    Discover the joy of creating a whimsical Sad Hedgehog ornament in this engaging goldwork embroidery class! Participants will learn the entire process, from tracing the pattern to the final stitches. The instructor will guide students step by step, including sharing techniques for embroidering the face, allowing students to personalize their hedgehog’s expression—it doesn’t have to be sad! Expect a creative and fun atmosphere as we explore different possibilities for unique hedgehogs.

    This class is beginner-friendly and perfect for those new to goldwork or stumpwork techniques. Some prior embroidery experience is recommended, but no previous knowledge of goldwork is required.   • Sweet Pea Stumpwork Design

    Class description: Sweet Pea features a delicate Sweet Pea design with a flower in full bloom on a stem complete with a bud, pea pod, leaf, and tendrils. The intricate bloom is very dimensional to give a very realistic representation of an actual bloom forever preserved in thread. A precious fuzzy bee with its gossamer wings and fluffy body is also nearby coming in for a taste of sweet nectar. The design includes many useful and essential stumpwork techniques such as string and felt padding, two different applications to work detached wired elements to create depth and realism, creation of the bee body and fragile tendrils. Proper thread painting techniques are also incorporated to further develop life-like detail. Some experience with surface embroidery would be helpful in this class, although all aspects of each technique and explanation of all stitches will be covered. The kit includes 13 pages of written instructions with color photos, all threads clearly marked on a thread card, silk background fabric, additional fabrics for detached elements, beads, metallics, wire, felt and needle pack.
