Extended Study Programs
The Extended Study Program is an in-depth study of a particular form of embroidery with a expert of that technique. Many times this means a four-day session in an intimate setting with like-minded individuals to challenge and build skills as the teacher leads you through creation of a specific project. Often a day of relaxation away from class activity focuses on exhibits of cultural or historic interest to the topic being studied.
Sometimes an Extended Study Program can take you on trips to interesting places to learn the techniques or skills of an ethnic group or to gain a historical perspective on where the foundations of embroidery were built.
Or perhaps you will have the unique opportunity to enhance your stash at out-of-the way nooks and crannies not often found by even the most diligent shopper! Regardless of which form of adventure a particular ESP takes, there are always liberal doses of fun, friendship and cherished memories to be had!
Examples of past ESPs include beading, turning a photo into needleart, exploring textiles, and stumpwork. Destinations are as varied as the topics and have included Savannah, Italy, Hershey PA, Mexico, Santa Fe, and New Orleans.
