Techniques of German Schwalm — Ethnic Textile Art by Phyllis Maurer

$9.25

German Schwalm belongs to the Whitework family, in which designs are worked in a tone on tone combination (generally white thread on white fabric.) Typical Schwalm designs use a variety of stitches, including surface embroidery, drawn and pulled thread stitches. A heart shape is frequently used as a major design unit, which is surrounded by trailing vines and floral motifs.
