Thank you! I am not completely new to embroidery but this work was very difficult for me. It was very hard to cut the carton exactly to measure, lacing was also very difficult. The monogram was the hardest, especially making the lines of various widths and closing the oval.
I need to practice more.🌞 -

Not great, but finished. Now that I have done it once, I think I could do it again.Any suggestions?

I completed the box. I did not purchase the materials so I was using what I had at home. I see very well that my box is not perfect at all, far from it, but it was my first attempt of making boxes and stitching such monograms. It was not an easy work for me. But at least now I am familiar with the techniques.
Dear Sarah, thank you so much for y…[Read more]

Hello Sarah,
I just finished Lesson 2 and have attached photos. This is a first for me with trailing, hopefully it will improve over time. Any feedback is appreciated.

I finished the monogram. Since I didn’t like the way the threads joined at the bottom of the vine, I put a small colonial knot right at their intersection.

Hi Becky,
As soon as you have completed the trailing for the monogram you can remove. I usually spot remove rather than soaking my fabric – either with a paintbrush dipped in plain water or with a water spray.

The dots at the end are tricky to include, and to do neatly, but it can be done.
It is possible to re-widen trailing by adding in more threads again from underneath. However, this is really tricky to do just for the dots, as it is difficult to get enough stitches over the new core threads to secure them.
What I would suggest instead (and I…[Read more]

Am I correct that the dots at the end are not stitched? It would add a lot to the monogram to have them.
Thanks, Judy Abbott

Sarah de Rousset-Hall replied to the topic Reductions on trailing in the forum Forum: Box Making: Parisian Patisserie 3 years ago
Hi Marty,
It is short but you have a couple of options for the reductions.
First of all however, I would recommend completing the longer side first, so that as you do the quick reductions, the core threads are nice and secure so you don’t need to worry about accidentally pulling them out.
Then your can either reduce by 2 every couple of s…[Read more]

On your reply toe “Outer box complete. Question on Monogram”: On the letter M to the right of number 1….that seems like an awfully short distance from the thickest to reduce from 14 threads down to two. You could barely make a stitch or two before making a reduction. Please advise.
Thanks
