Florence,
Apologies for missing this post!
Solutions for the Feathered chain would be to Whip or Weave the straight stitch part of the feathered chain, depending on how much coverage you neeed – Weaving give a little more width than whipping.
Here’s a link to the RSN Stitchbank (a great resource if you don’t already know about it!) for…[Read more]

Can you tell us if you used size 12 or size 8 perle for the feathered chain stitch?
Also, I don’t understand the instructions for the join on the circle. Do you have or can you make a video showing how you did this? Yours in the photo looks seamless. I’ve reached the point where I need to join the circle. Thank you!

Hi!
The interior box fabric is indeed from Spoonflower, and is their Cotton Poplin, but they do have sample packs available for their fabric types. The cotton poplin is similar to a quilting cotton, but isn’t as soft as a Liberty fabric (I was lucky enough to get some great bargains in their January sale this year!). Spoonflower and other b…[Read more]

If I recall correctly, someone in the class found the macaron fabric at Spoonflower.com. Spoonflower prints a multitude of fabric types with any of their patterns. Does the person who purchased the fabric from them know which fabric type it was? Spoonflower might also be able to answer the question of which of their fabrics is most like Liberty…[Read more]

Hi Mary,
I too want to make more of these (what beautiful Christmas gifts for those who appreciate handwork!). I found some beautiful Liberty cottons at, of all places, Joann’s. It’s the same lightweight drape as the macaron fabric so I bought small amounts (1/2 yard) of several designs. It’s not cheap but I think a half yard will line at…[Read more]

If you’re like me you like to see and feel the fabric when deciding what you want to buy as it is difficult to judge weight of a fabric or scale of a design from a 2″ photo on-screen. Mood fabrics is an online company that carries a wide selection of fabrics, including silks. My orders have always shipped on time and arrived in good condition. One…[Read more]

Hello Sarah,
I so love this class. Thank you so much.
Since the demise of fabric stores in the US I have found it very hard to locate a selection of fabrics for projects. Do you have any online (or other) suggestions?

Dear Sarah,
Earlier you advised me that with the Feathered Chain, there is a small risk that my tacking stitches to mark the design line might be visible, especially with the high contrast of colors, but if they can’t be taken out, you have solutions for that after the Feathered Chain is completed. I am wondering what solutions you can offer, p…[Read more]

Hi Beth,
You are absolutely correct, it should be subtracting 1mm not adding. I swear I thought I’d tested the calculations, but apparently I was half asleep when I did.
My apologies for confusion,
Sarah
