Description

This program has been established to train individuals to appraise embroidery and needlework and conclude value from a monetary perspective. The Certified Needlework Appraisers Program is a combination of EGA-provided instruction and self-directed study that includes exercises in needlework observation, research, and a formal apprenticeship in appraisal writing. Each candidate must attend an EGA-sponsored class in appraising needlework. This three-day class will provide instruction on the different types of appraisals and markets, concluding value of different forms of needlework, and writing an appraisal report.

In addition to the class in appraising, each certification candidate will be required to attend an EGA class in judging, review books, write a research paper, write ten appraisals, and pass a final exam.

Enrollment: Candidates may enroll in the program after completion of the four-day course.

Fees: The cost of the program is $375 for EGA members and $450 for non-members. After completion of the program, a pin will be awarded and the appraiser’s name will be listed on the EGA website. The cost of the program does not include course fees or the course texts. EGA Certification fees are non-refundable.
