Maple Leaves with teacher Susan Hoekstra offers a chance for the needleworker to work with a variety of composite and specialty stitches in this well-paced class. This design focuses on the triangular center and radiates out to include the rectangular corner sections. The mid-point of the center triangles grabs your eye and helps to incorporate the ‘leaf’ sections of this geometric design. This class also encompasses the teaching of painted canvas within a geometric piece; optional painting of select areas is encouraged.
There will be many types of threads used in this piece in order to facilitate the geometric leaf balance. DMC Perle Cotton, Pepper Pot Silk, Kreinik Braid, Planet Earth Silk and Silk Lamé Braid will all be utilized in this design. ‘Maple Leaves’ is stitched on 18-count canvas measuring 15″ x 15″. The finished size of this fall colored piece is approximately 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2”.
