Catherine, would this count as armature?

Also, Rand, after I import a photo, is there a way to add a comment right beside it?

Rand, when I comment on my own comment, then press Post, I never do see the post, until I close the EGA tab and reopen. All I get is a red circle with a slash through it.

here’s more examples I have found looking at embroidery. Some are from kit catalogs, and some from the gold work page on Face Book.

    • The first photo, the butterfly, requires as much design work as a larger piece, correct? There is still armature on it and attention to detail.

The second photo, the horse, shows the golden ratio/golden spiral.

The third photo is of a beetle with real beetle wings (elytra). To me, the two real beetle elytra are too close to the stitched wings and detract from the design. I think I would have used them instead of the gold on the stitched portion, or left them out.

The fourth photo again nicely shows the golden spiral.

And the last photo is of two owls on a pillow. To me, it needs a third owl somewhere.

Catherine, am I correct in thinking that the golden rectangle and armatures will not be used in every design? They are more options to seriously consider when designing, to help create a truly pleasing, professional design? Would they be considered before starting to draw in shapes and forms? While drawing? After drawing? All three?

I am adding some examples of embroideries I have seem on line that illustrate armatures.

    • I think the first one has a diagonal armature.
The second one uses neither the golden rectangle or armatures.
The third one has a horizontal armature.
The doll doesn’t use an armature, but does have two rectangles – the head and the body.
      Comments, please!

As a part of lesson 1, I searched the internet and found some good articles on the golden rectangle. I\’m looking forward now, to putting this all together.
