• I’m finally ready to begin Gay Ann Roger’s “Chloe’s Wedding Dress”. I purchased the design several years ago at an EGA seminar. The instructions begin on page 3, and do not include the fabric used or thread count. I’ve sent sent emails to three different addresses and called her phone with no response. Has anyone used this pattern and know the…[Read more]

  • We are much closer to having our Region Seminar up and going. Our members are working hard to convert everything we know to virtual presentations. Our teachers are all learning to teach via Zoom, so it is a steep learning curve for everyone. We are very disappointed in the registration numbers now that they have closed, but we will press onward.

  • Finished this morning

  • I’m wondering about using a roller bar for this project? I have used roller bars for linen, but never for canvas. Does anyone have any experience with this? John? Thanks>

  • I just want to comment that i appreciate those students that have been brave enough to post their chosen threads for me to look at and for others not posting to hopefuly at least be reading the processes we have gone through together. Just because i comment does not require you to take the advice.

  • How can I get in contact with the teacher for the goldwork bracelet. I need to know where to repurchase items from the kit I purchased as I have lost my kit but I am not getting any response and I have posted a request several times.

    • Hi Nancy, your teacher only has access to the group discussion in her Goldwork Bracelet class, not this discussion group. I will contact her for you.

  • Thank you Kathie, I\’ll try to post extra images as they are needed!

  • Oh dear Suzanne! Not that it will help at this point but you will only need one. I\’ll pop two into the mail right away and hope they arrive in short order! You can always add it later and just make sure its really secure.

  • John, the one question that you have not answered is………are we to start the outline?

  • Nancy, what a shame! I\’m sorry I haven\’t any kits left, I used every scrap of gold I ordered. You can kit your own using the supplies/materials list on the Course page.

  • Karen, all the running stitches are instead of stopping and starting and having ends that may come loose. I\’m not a beader so I have little experience in how secure the thread is – so just over compensating. You will only need one 3mm crystal so you should be fine.

  • Yes, Rebecca, the Crystals are only attached at the tip of the bracelet. They may get in the way while stitching so I covered them with tissue and basted it down. I also did the same with the clasp.

  • HI, Rand. I registered early for the Sashiko virtual lecture and am glad to have gotten in. I printed off the description from the initial listing with the course description and other information, but my computer had a glitch printing the resource list toward the end. Now that the class is closed, that original description does not show up.…[Read more]

  • I am so upset with myself. I was getting ready to start the kit and cant find it anywhere. I believe I may have tossed it out with a bunch of similar looking envelopes. Not sure what I can do now. Anyway I can get another kit or find out where I can get the supplies?

  • Stephanie, if you leave the clasp off it will be harder to sew it on through the embroidery. However, you may be able to secure the stitches to the threads on the back of the bracelet after the embroidery is done and before you glue on the backing. The glue will also help to secure the threads that hold the clasp on.

  • Mary, Yes you tie a knot using the tail from the beginning and the tail in the needle. Thread each end up one at a time and stitch it back where it came from for about an inch. Here is a photo of the thread tails pinned back away. All this is just to make sure the thread is secure. I have added photos – the first shows the knot, the second…[Read more]

This was the first time I choose colors for a project. It was difficult at first as I don’t have any color sense and my local stores are closed. In any case, I cheated and ordered the same overdye threads from an online project I liked. From there, I was able to pick out others from my stash.
    Canvas:French blue
Outline: dark green DMC 934,…[Read more]

  • Thank you for making that spelling/typo correction, Rand. BB

  • John, I reposted by colors. Still waiting on a reply though I can see why you might have missed it.
